Svalbard shipping activities in changing conditions: community perspectives
The primary research areas are local community’s vulnerability and socio-economic adaptation to multiple changes in the Arctic. I have recently submitted my Ph.D. dissertation. In this work I have examined the impacts of increased shipping activities in the Barents Sea on local coastal communities in order to understand what the implications are for local adaptation and adaptive capacity. The community of Longyearbyen is of the case communities I work with to examine the socio-economic impacts of shipping development.
